Tiomila 2026 to Tranås
In 2026, Tiomila will be held at Bredstorp in Tranås. Tranås Municipality and Tiomila 2026 have signed the cooperation agreement for the event at Bredstorp Sports Ground on May 2-3, 2026.
“I look forward to Tranås Municipality hosting an event that will truly put Tranås on the map. We become very strong when the local sports clubs and the municipality work together on a competition that attracts both national and international elite orienteers to Tranås,” says Mats Holmstedt (M), Chairman of the Municipal Executive Committee.
Tranås Municipality is providing the organizers—14 orienteering clubs in Småland, led by the local club SOL Tranås—with access to the entire recreational area in Bredstorp, which offers ideal logistics for the event: an ice rink, a racket sports hall, large gravel and grass areas, and several different meeting rooms and facilities. In addition, the municipality is offering substantial financial support and providing various resources.
“Tranås and Bredstorp offer fantastic conditions for hosting Tiomila. It is partly about a well-functioning infrastructure, but above all, there is challenging orienteering terrain right up to the arena,” says Sven-Åke Karlsson from IKHP Huskvarna, who is the competition director for Tiomila 2026.
Tiomila was first held in Småland in 2014 in Eksjö, and now, largely the same organizing clubs are responsible for the event. Bredstorp in Tranås has previously served as the competition arena for Smålandskavlen on two occasions, most recently in 2010.
Several orienteers have already booked accommodation and expressed interest in coming to Tranås to train in the nearby terrain, where the organizers can offer training opportunities. From late August until the competition in May 2026, various training packages will be available. SOL Tranås is organizing double competitions on August 30-31 this year, which will serve as an excellent starting point for all clubs and runners preparing for Tiomila 2026.
“The work on the competition map and the courses for the participants has been ongoing for a couple of years, and now the efforts on all other preparations are intensifying. We look forward to offering all clubs excellent competitions for youth, women, and men,” says Sven-Åke Karlsson.
